Let’s learn, grow, and make an impact together!

Hi! 👋 I’m Clare (she/her), I’ve worked in libraries for the last ten years.

I’ve had lots of interesting roles over the years, from cataloguing rare books in Marshs Library, to working on the desk in UCD, to Teaching & Learning in Marino, and becoming the User Experience & Engagement Coordinator in RCSI Library.

In that time I also ran a non-profit organisation with my colleague Helena Byrne which supported students of library studies in Ireland to bridge the gap between research and practice. We put on five fantastic conferences before saying goodbye to SLIP Ireland.

As an incurable joiner-inner I also got involved with the Career Development Group of the Library Association of Ireland. I joined the committee and was Chair for two years. I was also very proud to serve on the Council of the LAI for a number of years.

I sat on the National Committee 87th IFLA World Library and Information Congress, originally scheduled for 2020 and eventually taking place in 2022. With my colleague Eva Horning, we recruited 200 volunteers from around the world to assist in running the conference (they also got to participate in all conference activities for free). Sadly, I got covid a few days before the conference took place and I couldn’t attend 🙃

In 2022 I took the plunge and went freelance. I worked on a lovely project to sort out the book collection in the Turning Point Institute and create the Mary Paula Walsh Library.

In late 2024 I decided to finally follow my dream to combine my passions and skills in supporting people finding fulfilling careers in libraries and empowering libraries to connect with their communities. Through Informed Learning, I’m excited to share practical skills, innovative ideas, and a collaborative approach to professional development. Whether it’s through workshops, reflective practice, or hands-on training, I’m here to help modern libraries and their staff succeed. Will you join me?
